The new San Francisco Panorama issue of McSweeney’s is out! I did a sexy car crash illustration for an article about JG Ballard…

Go order a copy HERE, or find one in the Bay Area with this handy treasure map HERE. I can’t wait to get my hands on one.

This Saturday (tomorrow!) December 5th 2009: 11 AM - 7 PM

FREE ADMISSION!
There will be over 50 exhibitors and selling their zines, comics, books, prints and posters in a bustling market-style environment. I’ll be sharing a table with the hilarious Ms. Julia Wertz (of Fart Party fame), with plenty of comics and original drawings.

Also, please come to my panel discussion at 4PM, FLATLANDS: COMICS ON THE PICTURE PLANE at Secret Project Robot, 128 River St. and Metropolitan (down the block from the festival). Bill Kartalopoulos will be asking me, Ron Rege Jr., Mark Newgarden and David Sandlin why our comics are so darned 2-dimensional.

I’m so slow to post things here, forgetting that this is, afterall, a Brag-a-blog. Here are a few winning endorsements of my comic, I Want You:
- Arthur Magazine prescribes a hearty dose of my comics HERE.
- Nice mention on Print Magazine’s blog (written by one of my favorite artist/comedians Emily Flake!) right HERE.
- Awesome author Jami Attenberg interviewed me for Large-Hearted Boy. And she writes about my teen bibs! Read it all HERE.
Hey friends,
T&P Fine Art has six of my drawings for sale for the bargain price of $100 each, check them out HERE.
I’m also selling original pages from I Want You, and pretty much everything on my Flickr page. Email me for details!

I’m flying Westwards tomorrow for the Alternative Press Expo (aka APE), taking place on October 17-18 at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco. I’ll be signing with Buenaventura Press at tables 305-309.
And psst, it’s free if you bring your pass from Comic-Con.

I have some monsters in the VICE Where the Wild Things Are booklet:
And an interview HERE.

MERCHANDISE!
I Want You is now available in stores. If you can’t find it, whine at your local comic book shop and/or order your own copies from Last Gasp or Buenaventura Press, only $5 apiece!
Read a positive review from Whitney Matheson on USA Today’s Pop Candy Blog HERE!
I’m almost sold out of copies of my Ignatz Award winning mini, Stay Away From Other People. Order your copy quick, I don’t know when I’ll get around to reprinting these.
I’m busting down to the North Bethesda Marriott this weekend for SPX, where I’ll be tabling with Matt Furie, Jerry Moriarty, Kevin Huizenga, and Dan Zettwoch at Buenaventura Press, tables C1-C3! Check out the full signing schedule HERE.
And I’m on this panel on Saturday, 2:30-3:30pm: Now Make It Funny! Now that comics are finally being taken seriously, a new generation of cartoonists are bringing back the funny. Tucker Stone will talk to Emily Flake (Lulu Eightball), Matt Furie (Boy’s Club), Sam Gaskin (Fatal Faux-Pas) and Lisa Hanawalt (I Want You) about comics’ historical and ongoing aptitude for humorous effect, the deeper meanings of humor, and the struggles of producing comedy on a deadline.
I’ll have a tiny bit of original artwork for sale, too! Like those Kitchen Dogs you see up there. You wanna know what’s trickiest to draw? Can openers and foreshortened high heels, that’s what.
See ya there!
Right on! I’ve been nominated for the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Mini-Comic! Check out the full list of potential brick winners HERE.
Get a copy of Stay Away From Other People HERE! Read a positive review HERE.

Also, if you Google “Stay Away From Other People,” most of the results are about impending pandemics and social phobia. Hurray!

Check out my first fan TATTOO!

WHOA! She’s laying a face-egg!
Come to Union Pool tomorrow (Saturday, August 15) at 2pm and listen to me rack my brains for smart things to say about cartooning!
I’ll be speaking with Austin English (Windy Corner, Christina and Charles) and Dash Shaw (Bottomless Belly Button, Bodyworld) about the relationship between image-making and drawing for comics. How do pictures work differently in comics than they do on gallery walls?
Stick around afterwards to get a book signed, hit the taco truck, and quench your thirst with alcohol!
This panel discussion will be moderated by series curator Bill Kartalopoulos (The New School, Print Magazine). $5 suggested donation. All proceeds go to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Union Pool is at 484 Union Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.
I’ve been a fan of Vice for years, so I’m thrilled to have three mentions in there this week…
1. My minis are in Sweet Nick’s Comic Picks.

Note: Mistakes We Made is a mini I made at the last second for the Mocca Festival, but I only made a few, so now I’m out of them. But maybe I’ll make more!
Nick’s other picks include some of my recent favorites: Crooked Teeth by Nate Doyle, Ramble On by Calvin Wong, and Jordan Crane’s Uptight.
2. A new exclusive Vice Comic, BAD PETS.

Introducing “Bernapet Peepers,” AKA a thing Austin English accidentally said that had me laughing for weeks until I finally painted her.
3. And an interview, which is mostly about The Lion King.
