mutantmagic:

My friends. Lisa Hanawalt, Eleanor Davis and I will be speaking about comics and illustration at the Society of Illustrators in NYC next week (Feb 23rd).
There will be a cash bar and I’m trying to wrangle snacks. Hopefully something sugary to jack you all up to ask questions during the Q&A. Deets above and here. Purchase tickets here.

It’s true, this is happening! I’m so excited to speak with two of my favorite illustrators on the planet. Come see us.

Crimestoppers Club Show

I’ll be reading some comics at Michael Kupperman & Kate Beaton’s show tomorrow night! Come to Luca Lounge in NYC if you want to watch and listen to some fun.

New prints and Krampus holiday cards!

I’ll have all of these and more at Table 11 (downstairs) at the Brooklyn Comics & Graphics Festival tomorrow.

If you can’t make it to the show, order them online here!

Oh hey, and my table mates all have new things you should buy!

Domitille Collardey has cute tote bags, the prettiest hand-painted pins and inventive new mini-comics (one of them folds out into a huge poster!).

Sarah Glidden has lovely watercolor superhero portraits (yes, superheroes!) and a clever mini about being a tourist in Italy.

Julia Wertz has her hilarious, lovable books and minis and is apparently making buttons right at this moment! BUTTONS.

It’ll be a blast. Your wallet will scream!

BCGF and Saturday Shows!

If you’re in New York this Saturday, go to this:

It’s The Brooklyn Comics & Graphics Festival! I’ll be downstairs at Table 11, next to Domitille Collardey, Julia Wertz and Sarah Glidden.

If I was in Los Angeles, I’d go to this:

Stare at my scaly, spiny portrait of Jeff Goldblum in The JP (Just People) Show at Nucleus, Opening Dec. 3 at 6pm. More info here.

I’m gonna be at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda this weekend, and I’ll be joined by all my Pizza Island buddies (Domitille Collardey, Sarah Glidden, Julia Wertz, Meredith Gran and Kate Beaton)!

Come by my table! I’ll have issues of I Want You, mini-comics, prints, and a handful of other goodies.

The “bush with more birds than leaves, almost” is something I saw last time I was in Oklahoma. Now I’m back! If you’re anywhere near Tulsa, you should come by the Philbrook Museum tonight for The Graphic Art of Lisa Hanawalt. I’ll be hosting an “animals wearing hats” drawing contest (!) from 6-7pm, then reading some of my comics, talking about art and answering questions from 7-8pm.

Comic-Con!

Yes, I’ll be wandering around San Diego this Thursday and Friday!

Here’s my signing schedule at Last Gasp, booth #1616:

Thursday 11am-1pm

Friday 4pm-6pm

And here’s a peek at an exclusive letterpress print, available at Last Gasp only:

I’ll also have something new at Poketo (booth #4634), don’t forget to stop by and check it out. What could it be?

See you there!

Toronto, I Want You.

I’m flying to Toronto this weekend for TCAF - It’ll be my first time, read all about this awesome festival and how to attend it here. It’s FREE!

I’ll be manning the Pigeon Press booth both days at table 132, next to my Pizza Island cohorts Sarah Glidden and Julia Wertz. In addition to comics, I’ll have original art, screen prints, and some new digital prints available for cheapsies!

Here are Wolf Houses and Krang Pugs, covering all your weird dog-art bases.

See ya there, Canadians!

I Want You #2 won a Stumptown Award for Best Small Press a few weekends ago, and it just got the top spot in this list of best minis of 2010 on TCJ. I’m glad people still like animals, poop jokes and weird hats! Because those are my favorites.

MoCCA Festival

Hey, I’m going to be at this weekend’s MoCCA Festival in NYC. Read all about it here!

I’ll be at table M5 with most of the other artists from Pizza Island. We have a nice write-up in NY Magazine this week and you can read it here!

We’ll be debuting a Pizza Island mini comic (featuring me, Kate Beaton, Sarah Glidden, Meredith Gran, Julia Wertz and Domitille Collardey) at the festival! We’re making a small batch of ‘em and selling ‘em cheap, so come grab one early!

I’ll have comics and original art for sale, in addition to these new screen prints (which will scramble your eye sockets, in a pleasurable way).

I’ll also be on the following panels:

Saturday at 5:30pm, MoCCA presents the Cross Hatch Carousel - Live comics reading with me, Michael Kupperman, Kate Beaton, Ted Stearn, Jeffrey Lewis and R. Sikoryak with voice acting by Julie Klausner and Adam Conover.

Sunday at 2:30pm, Pizza Island: The Panel - Our studio (me, Sarah Glidden, Julia Wertz, Domitille Collardey, Meredith Gran, Kate Beaton) in conversation, moderated by Brian Heater.

So come by and say hi. Don’t be shy. Pizza pie!
