And psst, there are also new wallets from my favorites Hellen Jo and Esther Pearl Watson. Time to start carrying three wallets!

Comic-Con!

Yes, I’ll be wandering around San Diego this Thursday and Friday!

Here’s my signing schedule at Last Gasp, booth #1616:

Thursday 11am-1pm

Friday 4pm-6pm

And here’s a peek at an exclusive letterpress print, available at Last Gasp only:

I’ll also have something new at Poketo (booth #4634), don’t forget to stop by and check it out. What could it be?

See you there!

Hanawood Forever

I’m flying to Los Angeles this weekend and staying there for five weeks! I won’t be shipping any comic book or print orders until August, so this Thursday, June 23 is the last day to order if you want your stuff to arrive before then.

Have a great Summer, and don’t stomp my sand castles when you see me at the beach!

I made this list for myself a year ago when I was feeling frustrated and unmotivated (that first East Coast Winter is a doozy) and taped it to my studio wall. Yesterday it ended up on Boing Boing!
I find it very helpful to make up rules for myself, even if I end up ignoring half of them (I haven’t really turned the internet off since 1998). No list can be one size fits all, so here’s my one bit of prescriptive advice: Make your own list, custom-tailored to what you do and how you work!
And as for other things like this on the internet (there are lots), I highly, highly recommend:
- Frank Chimero’s Advice for Graphic Design Students
- Keri Smith’s “Secrets Shared”
- Austin Kleon’s “How to Steal Like an Artist”

Toronto, I Want You.

I’m flying to Toronto this weekend for TCAF - It’ll be my first time, read all about this awesome festival and how to attend it here. It’s FREE!

I’ll be manning the Pigeon Press booth both days at table 132, next to my Pizza Island cohorts Sarah Glidden and Julia Wertz. In addition to comics, I’ll have original art, screen prints, and some new digital prints available for cheapsies!

Here are Wolf Houses and Krang Pugs, covering all your weird dog-art bases.

See ya there, Canadians!

I Want You #2 won a Stumptown Award for Best Small Press a few weekends ago, and it just got the top spot in this list of best minis of 2010 on TCJ. I’m glad people still like animals, poop jokes and weird hats! Because those are my favorites.

Bird Vision Prints

Vivid cyan and black on white paper, 19 x 25 inches, signed edition of 100. Registration offset intentional (to make your eye sockets vibrate). $20 each.

How do your eyes feel?

MoCCA Festival

Hey, I’m going to be at this weekend’s MoCCA Festival in NYC. Read all about it here!

I’ll be at table M5 with most of the other artists from Pizza Island. We have a nice write-up in NY Magazine this week and you can read it here!

We’ll be debuting a Pizza Island mini comic (featuring me, Kate Beaton, Sarah Glidden, Meredith Gran, Julia Wertz and Domitille Collardey) at the festival! We’re making a small batch of ‘em and selling ‘em cheap, so come grab one early!

I’ll have comics and original art for sale, in addition to these new screen prints (which will scramble your eye sockets, in a pleasurable way).

I’ll also be on the following panels:

Saturday at 5:30pm, MoCCA presents the Cross Hatch Carousel - Live comics reading with me, Michael Kupperman, Kate Beaton, Ted Stearn, Jeffrey Lewis and R. Sikoryak with voice acting by Julie Klausner and Adam Conover.

Sunday at 2:30pm, Pizza Island: The Panel - Our studio (me, Sarah Glidden, Julia Wertz, Domitille Collardey, Meredith Gran, Kate Beaton) in conversation, moderated by Brian Heater.

So come by and say hi. Don’t be shy. Pizza pie!

Art show at Space 1026

The Desert Island art show is opening this Friday night in Philadelphia! I’m doing an installation with piñatas and it will be nuts, come see!

I’ve also been busy working on a bunch of different projects that I can’t talk about quite yet. But here’s a little peek at something:

My job is fuuunnnn.

getthatlook:

Anna Wintour does not have bowel movements, but she does lay stunning eggs.

I got a little unhealthily obsessed with Anna Wintour and made this comic. It’s all based on solid, objective research. Don’t be angry, Anna! I love you. Anyways, now you can read it on my favorite blog, The Hairpin.

Year of the Rabbit at GR2

Reception: Saturday, February 5, 6:30 - 10:00 p.m, I am told there will be puppies, kitties, and bunnies available for adoption at the opening, so that’s another pretty good reason to be there.

It’s at: 2062 Sawtelle Blvd, West Los Angeles (right down the street from where I lived for six years, before I moved to Brooklyn)!

Happy New Year!

I’m finally back in Brooklyn and somewhat mentally present. If you ordered something during the holidays, it’s now on the way! Sorry for the delay!

In other news, I’m doing a slide show reading on January 19th. It’s not free, but don’t worry, it’s worth it.

ART FOR SALE!

I’ll be posting a bunch of original drawings and watercolors during the next week. Check back to see new pieces (and snag one as a gift)!

All artwork will be sent via certified mail and wrapped up safe.

I’d recommend ordering by December 16th to make sure things intended as Christmas gifts have time to arrive, and I’ll be closing up shop on December 22nd for the holidays.
